Fees

Fees are now set by mutual agreement. A fee agreement is drawn up between the solicitor and their client.

(Law No. 2015-990 of 6 August 2015).

Different methods of calculating fees

Time-based fees

The solicitor informs her clients of the hourly rate she proposes to apply if they choose the time-based method. She informs her clients of the time likely to be spent studying
and handling the case. This rate may vary within the same firm depending on the cases handled. A higher hourly rate may be agreed in cases where this is justified.

Fixed fees

The solicitor and her client agree on a fixed and definitive fee. The services covered by these fees must be precisely specified.

Contingency fees

The firm does not charge contingency fees and bills exclusively on a time-spent basis.
